URM Mission Statement

The Board of Regents (BOR), has a Risk Management Policy and recognizes that risk management is an integral part of the University’s goals and strategies.  Further, risk management strategies are an entire University activity and as such, are the responsibility of the broader University community.

To support the BOR policy, University Risk Management (URM) provides leadership within the University community.  Specifically, URM will implement risk management principles and practices in a timely and consistent manner.

In this context, URM will:

  • Partner with campuses in identifying potential loss producing hazards and conditions
  • Provide assistance in developing methods to manage those hazards and conditions
  • Manage the transfer of risk through contract or insurance, when appropriate
  • Partner with the campuses to create an environment where university staff and students assume a risk management philosophy
  • Assist in the protection of university assets by identifying  risks, and wherever necessary, mitigating the  risks

URM shall also be responsible for the efficient and effective management of the University’s comprehensive self administered, self insured retention, known as the Risk and Insurance Management Fund (RIMF.)
