AFTER HOURS WORKERS' COMPENSATION PROCEDURES

For an employee injured on the job after “normal” work hours
(Weekends, holidays, or between 5 pm and 8 am Monday through Friday)

IN AN EMERGENCY CALL 911 (from a campus phone call 9-911)
An emergency is uncontrolled bleeding, head/eye injury, broken bone.

Contact Public Safety 262-3111 (from a campus phone 3111) for any injury or medical incident, particularly those that require medical attention. Uniformed officers are available 24 hours daily. They will record employee information, assist with evaluating the seriousness of the illness or injury, check the injury location for safety issues and contact Campus Risk Management.

An employee whose injury requires immediate medical attention, but is NOT an emergency, should go to the nearest Urgent Care Clinic. An emergency (i.e. uncontrolled bleeding, head/eye injury, broken bone) will normally result in transport by ambulance to the nearest available emergency room. If transport by ambulance is required, the cost is normally covered by Workers’ Compensation. Employees should tell the hospital that they are on workers' compensation and provide the University's name and a campus contact number (normally the employee’s supervisor.

When a medical situation does NOT require immediate medical attention, the injured employee will avoid out-of-pocket costs or possible denial of the claim by:

  1. Reporting the injury to Campus Risk Management (719-661-9851)
  2. Submitting the secure online Employee Injury Report at https://urm.cusys.edu/docs/forms/incident_report_form.asp
  3. Scheduling a medical appointment within four days at one of the designated medical providers:
    • Concentra Medical Center
    • Centura Centers for Occupational Medicine (CCOM)

Please bring any questions, concerns or problems to the attention of
Campus Risk Management (719-262-3525, on campus 3525).
